THE BUILD: help us transform the hospice
The needs of children with life-shortening conditions are changing, and so must we. THE BUILD project is our biggest ever transformation of the hospice, to create a purpose-built space that matches the highly specialist care that we currently provide. Help us reach our £2 million fundraising target so that THE BUILD can become a reality.
Thank you very much again for choosing to back The Build at Martin House through the brilliant Weeton Show this year! Your donation of £3000, plus the £352 that we raised on our stall at the show, means that children like Thomas will receive the care they need with the best facilities going forwards.
Thomas’s condition means he needs oxygen at night, and if he’s unwell, often through the day as well. Currently when Thomas comes for a stay at Martin House, his parents, Bethany and Jack, have to arrange to have oxygen delivered to the hospice.
The new bedrooms in the hospice will all have oxygen supplied directly to each bed, meaning that he will get what he needs instantaneously without having to worry about getting it delivered and set up.
Also, Jack said: “During our respite stays, we often come with our other two children, Arthur and Catherine. At the moment we either have to get two separate rooms because there’s four of us, or if there’s not enough space, we all have to squash into one room.
“Our children need a respite as much as we do, so the new family rooms in THE BUILD means we will be able to stay and have enough space. That’ll be amazing for us – having the comfort to give all of us a break will be amazing.”
Rob Burrow MND Centre in Leeds
www.leedshospitalscharity.org.uk/the-rob-burrow-centre-for-mnd
Inspired by Rob Burrow, after he received his MND diagnosis in 2019, Leeds Hospitals Charity are building a £6.8 million state-of-the-art MND care centre, to give people with MND and their families the best support and care possible.
They recently hit the £5 million mark, having currently raised £5.4 million; and this is all thanks to people like yourselves at The Weeton & District Horticultural and Agricultural Society’s annual show. We can’t thank you enough for your generosity in 2023 as we were able to donate £2,000 towards Rob’s appeal.
